Draft laws on establishing courts in Crimea and Sevastopol submitted to State Duma

Vladimir Putin submitted to the State Duma four draft federal laws on establishing federal courts of general jurisdiction, including military courts, and arbitration courts in the two new Russian Federation constituent entities of Crimea and Sevastopol.

The draft Federal Law On Establishing Russian Federation Courts in the Republic of Crimea and City of Federal Importance Sevastopol will establish the Supreme Court and Arbitration Court of the Republic of Crimea, district and city courts of the Republic of Crimea, the Sevastopol Arbitration Court, the Crimea Garrison Military Court, and the Sevastopol Garrison Military Court. 

Passing this law will make it possible to ensure a functioning justice system in Crimea and Sevastopol and guarantee the constitutional right of the region’s residents to access to justice.

The draft Federal Law On Establishing the 21st Arbitration Appeal Court and On Amendments to the Federal Constitutional Law On Arbitration Courts in the Russian Federation will establish the 21st arbitration appeal court, which will be responsible for reviewing verdicts passed by arbitration courts in Crimea and Sevastopol. 

Two other draft laws have been submitted to the State Duma: On the Judicial Community Bodies in the Republic of Crimea and City of Federal Importance Sevastopol, and On Procedures for Selecting Candidates for Initial Makeups of Federal Courts established in the Republic of Crimea and City of Federal Importance Sevastopol.
