The Federal Law regulates certain issues pertaining to environmental protection and the treatment of industrial and consumption waste.
The law establishes that biosphere sites may be created on parts of state nature reserve territories in accordance with Government decisions.
The concept of “accumulated environmental damage,” resulting from previous economic or other activities, is introduced into the Federal Law on Environmental Protection. Sites of accumulated environmental damage are territories and water areas where accumulated environmental damage has been identified, as well as capital construction and waste disposal facilities that are a source of accumulated environmental damage.
The law regulates issues related to the identification, assessment and registration of sites of accumulated environmental damage and the organisation of efforts to neutralise it.
In addition, the law clarifies certain provisions of the Federal Law on Environment Protection related to the best available technology.
