The Federal Law allows for the possibility of conducting criminal trials in absentia for certain minor and medium-gravity crimes, if such acts are aimed at undermining the foundations of the constitutional order, the country’s defence capability or security, and the defendant is located outside the territory of the Russian Federation and (or) evades appearing in court.
