On February 10 in the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin will present Presidential Prizes in Science and Innovation for Young Scientists

The prize is awarded for contribution to the development of national science and innovative activities and is designed to encourage further research by its winners.

Announcement, February 10, 2016

The Presidential Prize in Science and Innovation for Young Scientists was founded in 2008. The ceremony is held every year on Russian Science Day marked on February 8, and the prize amount is 2.5 million rubles.

The winners of the 2015 prize are three researchers working in physics, biology and chemistry.

Dmitry Kopchuk, PhD in Chemistry, researcher at the Institute of Organic Synthesis of the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Ural Branch, has been awarded this prize for the development of new luminescent and functional materials for molecular devices of various purposes.

Vladimir Stegailov, Doctor of Science in Physics and Mathematics, section head at the Joint Institute for High Temperatures of the Russian Academy of Sciences, has been awarded the prize for a series of developments in supercomputer multiscale modelling of materials under extreme conditions.

The third winner is Yekaterina Proshkina, PhD in Biology, researcher at the Institute of Biology of the Komi Science Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Ural Branch, for her contribution to the genetics of life span and aging.
