Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev reported on internal affairs agencies’ efforts to combat the diversion and embezzlement of budget funds. According to his information, spheres that are the most susceptible to criminal activity include the procurement of goods, works and services for state and municipal needs, construction, including housing construction, as well as road maintenance, health care, education, science and culture.
During the discussion of the report, special attention was given to searching for ways to improve the system of preventing the embezzlement of budget funds, as well as developing mechanisms of collaboration between law enforcement agencies and regional government representatives to ensure that activities related to the placement and execution of state and municipal contracts are free of corruption.
In addition, the issue of reimbursing losses resulting from the diversion and embezzlement of budget funds was considered in detail. This should be ensured primarily by returning illegally acquired property to the state.
Presidium members also heard a report by Igor Komarov, General Director of Roscosmos State Space Corporation, on anti-corruption efforts.
The meeting participants detailed measures to build an effective anti-corruption vertical in the corporation covering, among other things, its subsidiaries, and also agreed on the need to take effective measures to root out all factors that facilitate corruption in the sector.
