Seminar meeting on the implementation of state ethnic policy took place in Urals Federal District 2017-05-25 16:00:00 Kurgan The seminar Practice and Tasks of Executive Bodies in the Constituent Entities of the Russian Federation as regards the Implementation of the Strategy for the Russian Federation State Ethnic Policy through to 2025 was held in the Kurgan Region, co-chaired by the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Magomedsalam Magomedov and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Urals Federal District Igor Kholmanskikh. In 2017, as per the presidential instruction, seminar meetings are being held in all federal districts to review the implementation of the Strategy for the Russian Federation State Ethnic Policy through to 2025. Seminars have already been held in the Siberian and Northwestern federal districts. The latest regional seminar was held in Kurgan on May 25. In his opening remarks, Mr Kholmanskikh noted the progress made by the regions comprising the federal district in the area of interethnic relations, and discussed existing problems and guidelines for solving them. Mr Magomedov, in turn, drew attention to the generally stable trends of improving interethnic and inter-religious relations in the country and in the federal district which have emerged in recent years owing to the comprehensive and systemic implementation of state ethnic policy. Mr Magomedov also underscored the significance of the effective work done at the municipal level to strengthen the unity of the multi-ethnic people of the Russian Federation, and foster interethnic peace and accord. Reports on the implementation of the Strategy for the Russian Federation state ethnic policy in the regions of the Urals Federal District were delivered, in particular, by the governors of the Kurgan and Tyumen regions, and the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area. Also attending the seminar were Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs Andrei Mezhenko, member of the Presidential Council for Interethnic Relations Vladimir Zorin, heads of municipalities, government officials, and representatives of the academic and expert communities. Corresponding decisions were adopted following the seminar meeting.
