One of them – the city of Bologoye – is the only large hub between Moscow and St Petersburg, which was not taken by the Nazis and made an enormous contribution to the victory. It was used to provide supplies to the Volkhov Front, the Kalinin Front and the Belorussian Front, and its residents ensured operation of the railway and the manufacturing industry despite bombing raids and the overall difficult situation. The second city – Toropets – is the Tver Region’s oldest city mentioned in the Laurentian Chronicle of 1074. The requests concern conferring the title of City of Military Glory on Bologoye and issuing a Presidential instruction on celebrating the 950th anniversary of the city of Toropets in 2024. Vladimir Putin promised to provide his support.
