President of Russia Vladimir Putin: Mr Prime Minister, I am delighted to see you.

Just recently, we met with the President [of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh Khurelsukh Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh UkhnaagiinPresident of Mongolia ] in Beijing and discussed trilateral cooperation. Together with the People’s Republic of China we mainly focused on energy issues.

However, I must emphasise that our interaction with Mongolia – our neighbour, friend and strategic partner – has a separate significance for us and is one of our priorities.

I would also like to once again recall our common past, which laid a strong foundation for the development of relations between our countries, including our shared heroic history. We remember this well.

We are very grateful to you for the warm welcome extended to us during my visit. Our entire delegation recalls it with gratitude.

It is noteworthy that the overall situation has been developing positively over the past year. I believe trade increased by over 17 percent, and we have achieved good results in major, traditional joint projects. We may return to this topic a little later.

I very much hope that the work of your delegation at the Eastern Economic Forum will also prove fruitful, as it provides opportunities for direct contacts not only with Russian partners, but also with colleagues from other Asia-Pacific countries.

We are very glad to see you. Welcome.

Prime Minister of Mongolia Gombojav Zandanshatar: Mr President,

I am very pleased to meet with you today in Vladivostok. Thank you for inviting me to take part in the 10th anniversary Eastern Economic Forum, and I am also grateful for this personal meeting.

Indeed, this year is an anniversary year of great historical significance both for us and, I believe, for the entire world. It marks the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the great victory in the liberation war against militarism in 1945.

Last year, we also celebrated the 85th anniversary of the victory at the Khalkhin Gol River. We believe that both that war and the victory at Khalkhin Gol stand as historical proof of the geopolitical significance of our friendship. We must always remember, respect, and honour the feat of the Soviet, Russian people, who achieved victory over Nazism and militarism. That victory became a reliable foundation for mutual understanding and cooperation among many countries for decades.

Your visits to Mongolia in 2019 and again in 2024, on the occasions of the 80th and 85th anniversaries of our common victory at Khalkhin Gol, were historically and politically significant. At that time, we also discussed many issues of our bilateral relations. We are deeply grateful to you for coming to celebrate these victory anniversaries. Our President also took part in the official celebrations marking the anniversary of the Great Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

It is gratifying to note, and I sincerely thank you and congratulate you: during the recent trilateral meeting, the heads of our three states adopted a political decision on the construction of a gas pipeline running through Mongolia, Russia, and China.

As the great Russian scientist Mikhail Lomonosov once said, “Russian power will grow with Siberia.” The Power of Siberia 1 project has already been implemented, and now the Power of Siberia 2 project will be launched. I sincerely thank you for your efforts to make this grand project come to life. Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller told me that projects of such scale occur less often than once in a century. This project is truly enormous, and we do not yet realise the impact it will have. Congratulations!
