Meeting of State Council Commission on Youth Policy

Presidential Aide and State Council Secretary Igor Levitin and Governor of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area Dmitry Artyukhov chaired a meeting of the State Council Commission on Youth Policy.

The meeting was attended by Head of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs Ksenia Razuvayeva, Director General of the Russian Public Opinion Research (VCIOM) Centre Valery Fedorov, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education Grigory Gurov, and Rector of the Higher School of Economics Nikita Anisimov.

The meeting participants discussed key issues, successful experience and trends in youth policy from 2009 to 2022.

Igor Levitin Levitin Igor Levitin IgorAide to the President noted the importance of the recently adopted Federal Law On the Russian Movement of Children and Youth, which is aimed at upbringing the younger generation, providing career guidance and offering recreational opportunities.

Chairman of the State Council Commission on Youth Policy Dmitry Artyukhov Artyukhov Dmitry Artyukhov DmitryGovernor of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area emphasised that achieving significant results requires up-to-date ideas that would allow young people to feel confident in their future and provide opportunities for self-realisation in their country and region. The key components of this work include engaging young people who have not previously been involved in projects and support programmes and developing common approaches to the infrastructure of youth policy, as well as to related bodies and their authority.

Rector of the Higher School of Economics Nikita Anisimov presented the results of an analysis of youth policy legislation and strategies for socioeconomic development in all 85 regions of the country. He noted the importance of improving the regulatory framework and sharing best practices among the regions. Areas of improvement in the Federal Law On Youth Policy were proposed, and the need to revise existing media tools for organising the youth information space was reaffirmed following a detailed discussion.

Recommendations were developed based on the results of the meeting.
