Opening the plenary session, Magomedsalam Magomedov read out a message of greetings from Vladimir Putin. In his remarks, the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office stressed that preserving interethnic peace in Russia is an issue of national security and a fundamental precondition for the further progressive socioeconomic development of Russia.

Among the current tasks, Magomedsalam Magomedov highlighted ensuring the integration of the reunited regions into a single ethnopolitical and ethnocultural space of Russia: “It is important to work with people to convey the principles of a common historical and cultural heritage of our peoples, trust in the Russian institutions of state authority and civil society, and rejection of Nazi and extremist ideology. In order to do so, it is necessary to actively involve the House of Peoples of Russia and the Assembly of the Peoples of Russia,” he said.
During the plenary session, speeches were made by Head of the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs Igor Barinov, Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Ethnic Affairs Gennady Semigin, Head of the Main Directorate for Migration Issues at the Interior Ministry Police Lieutenant General Valentina Kazakova, Assistant to the Head of the Chechen Republic, Commander of the Akhmat special forces unit Apti Alaudinov and Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of the National Guard for the Donetsk People's Republic Alexander Khodakovsky.
The Peoples of Russia national forum is a key annual event in the sphere of ethnic policy in Russia, which promotes the study and development of mechanisms for strengthening the nationwide civic identity and the unity of the Russian nation, interethnic peace and accord, and is intended to raise awareness of the colossal experience of the Russian state in this area.
