Mr Medvedev discussed with the commission members issues concerning the evaluation of Kazan, capital of Tatarstan, as a potential host city for the 2013 World University Summer Games.
The FISU evaluation commission will visit Kazan on May 17–19.
This is the second time Kazan has put forward its candidacy to host the World University Games. The city’s first bid was for the 2011 University Summer Games, but the vote in January 2007 gave the games to the city of Shenzhen in China. Tatarstan decided to try again, however, and Kazan has officially launched its bid to host the XXVII World University Games in 2013. The other candidate cities are Vigo (Spain) and Gwangju (Korea).
The FISU Executive Committee will decide the host city for the 2013 World University Games in a vote in Brussels on May 31, 2008.
