Congratulations to President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev

Dmitry Medvedev sent a congratulatory message to President Nazarbayev on the national holiday of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the 20th anniversary of its independence.

December 16, 2011
16:30

The message reads, in part:

“Over the years, Kazakhstan has achieved impressive results in economic development and ensuring prosperity for its people. Stability and social consensus, as well as a responsible course of foreign policy, have become the reliable basis for the growth of Kazakhstan’s international prestige.

The consistent transformations in Kazakhstan have a positive effect on the high level of dynamics in the Russian-Kazakhstani strategic partnership, based on durable traditions of friendship and good neighbourly relations between the peoples of our nations. We are successfully implementing large-scale joint projects in a wide variety of fields – from cooperation in key sectors of the economy to broad cultural and humanitarian exchanges. Our work to improve our legal framework is bringing visible results. Serious prospects are opening in science and technology cooperation and innovation, nuclear energy, and many other areas.

The powerful impetus to more fully realise existing opportunities has resulted in the gradual deepening of cooperation within the framework of existing regional alliances: the CIS Background information Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) , EurAsEC Background information Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC) , CSTO Background information Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) , and SCO Background information Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) . I will particularly note Kazakhstan’s active role in promoting integration processes. The efficient function of the Customs Union, the formation of the Common Economic Space, and practical steps toward the shaping of the Eurasian Economic Union offer qualitatively new conditions for the multilateral development of a mutually beneficial partnership. We are prepared for further coordination and very close cooperation in the interest of implementing the laid-out plans.

I am certain that using the solid potential of Russian-Kazakhstani allied relations will continue to further improve the quality of life for our peoples, serving the goals of strengthening stability and security in the Eurasian region.”
