The President said, in particular, in his message:
“Serving in the paratrooper forces has always been seen as important and particularly honourable in our country. The paratroopers are known for their boldness and determination, resolve and courage, and readiness to perform their duties in even the most difficult conditions. These qualities are their greatest weapon.
You are deservedly proud of the paratroopers’ history and aspire to be worthy of these forces’ founders and honour the deeds of soldiers whose names have been immortalised in Russia’s military chronicles. This continuity unquestionably helps you as you carry out today’s missions.
Russia’s Airborne Forces are undergoing active modernisation today. Soldiers and officers are mastering new skills, arms and equipment. Units are getting increasingly mobile and capable of rapid response, the personnel selection system is improving all the time, and a lot has been done to make service more prestigious.
I am sure that the ‘blue berets’ will continue to distinguish themselves through their exemplary professionalism and ability, and their loyalty to their military oath and duty.”
