Russia is interested in developing cooperation in the economy, energy sector, mining industry, space sector, nuclear energy, oil and gas transport, and the military technical sector, Mr Medvedev said at the talks in expanded format. He called the talks constructive and highly assessed the results.
This was the first visit by a Russian head of state to Peru in the history of the two countries’ relations. Mr Medvedev also invited Mr Garcia to visit Russia.
The two Presidents signed a joint statement.
Furthermore, a number of agreements were signed in the presence of the two Presidents. They included in particular an agreement between defence industry corporation Oboronprom and the Peruvian Ministry of Defence on the main principles for establishing a service centre for technical service and major repairs of Mi-8, Mi-17 and Mi-26 T helicopters in Peru. A Memorandum of Intent was signed between Rosoboronexport and the Peruvian Ministry of Defence.
An intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in fighting drugs trafficking was also concluded, and the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Peruvian National Council for Science, Technology and Technological Innovation signed an agreement on scientific, technological and innovation cooperation.
Two banking sector agreements were signed – a Memorandum of Understanding between Vnesheconombank and the National Bank of Peru, and a cooperation agreement between VTB and the National Bank of Peru.
