The message said, in part:
“International terrorism is more and more often teaching the civilised world abominable and shocking lessons in various spots of the world and there is only one conclusion to be made – there is a crucial need for an unbending universal fight against this plague of the 21st century.
“We in Russia can relate to the deep shock and grief felt by the Australian people today. Please accept my empathy and support and send my most sincere condolences to the families of those killed and deep feelings for those who suffered severe injuries in the tragedy.”
