President Putin with Transneft President Semyon Vainshtok.
Mr Vainshtok reported on the company’s plans for the future. He said that the Government had discussed prospects for the Murmansk project, the Baltic Pipeline System (BPS), and oil transportation through Kazakhstan with a side branch to Iran.
On March 17, the Government decided to go ahead with the BPS. The facility already employs 2,000 workers and has 200 kilometers of pipeline laid. By July, the new system will be carrying six million metric tons of oil, he said.
