Before the one-on-one meeting with the Thai Prime Minister, Mr Putin signed the distinguished visitors’ book at Government House.
A wide range of bilateral issues and key international political problems were discussed at the talks between the Russian and Thai delegations. The President noted that the two countries had close or identical positions regarding the central role of the UN in ensuring global security, ways of dealing with international problems, and the need to combat terrorism and other forms of international crime and drug trafficking.
Mr Putin and Mr Shinawatra were present at the signing of a memorandum of understanding on the logistical and technical support for troops, the agreement on cooperation between the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and the Thai Industrial Federation, a protocol on cooperation between the Culture Ministries of the two countries for 2004–2006 and an agreement on settling the $36.5 million debt of the former USSR to Thailand.
