The President said he was in favour of a single federal engine building centre based on the Perm corporation.
He stressed that aircraft manufacturing was of strategic importance for the country. The national aircraft fleet and its potential, he said, were largely responsible for the volume of the domestic transport service market, external ties, and the country’s defence capability.
Perm Motors Company was able to preserve its engineering and scientific potential, increase output and put the design bureau and production capacities under one roof.
The President described the manufacture of gas turbines for power plants and pumping units for gas pipelines as important side businesses. He noted that equipment of that type was in high demand, bearing in mind Gazprom’s agreements with its traditional partners, especially in Central Asia.
