Mr Putin reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to further strengthening the traditionally friendly relations between the two countries based on the Declaration on Strategic Partnership between Russia and Algeria signed in Moscow in April 2001.
The President said he was satisfied with the start of work by the Mixed Intergovernmental Russian-Algerian Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, and noted that, “the commission’s first meeting in Moscow in October 2005, will certainly be a major boost for developing the whole complex of multidimensional relations between our countries.”
Mr Putin said he is certain that the “Russian-Algerian partnership, which is growing stronger, is an important factor for stability in the region.”
The message was passed on by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, currently visiting Algeria.
