The federal law ratifies the Agreement between the Russian Government and the Indian Government on Mutual Travel by Holders of Diplomatic and Official Passports, signed on December 3, 2004, in Delhi. The agreement’s aim is to create more favourable conditions for bilateral exchanges, for mutual contacts between officials and for developing bilateral cooperation between Russia and India.
Under the agreement’s provisions, Russian and Indian citizens who hold valid diplomatic or official passports can enter and exit the other party’s territory, transit through or spend up to 90 days on the other side’s territory from the date of entry without a visa. Both parties to the agreement reserve the right to refuse entry or to cut short the presence on their territory of any citizen of the other party they consider undesirable.
