Vladimir Putin and Nursultan Nazarbaev had a two and a half hour conversation, after which both countries' delegations joined the Presidents.

During the Russian-Kazakhstan talks they discussed various issues with respect to mutual relations, including the development of trade relations, the prospects for deepening integration cooperation, and cooperation in the fuel and energy sector.

Following the Russian-Kazakhstan summit a number of bilateral documents were signed in the presidents' presence. The documents concern settling issues with respect to using military ranges, granting the Kazakhstan communications satellite and broadcasting service an orbital position, and economic cooperation.

Vladimir Putin and Nursultan Nazarbaev also made press statements and answered journalists' questions.

Before the talks the heads of state uncovered a monument in Chistye Prudy (Moscow) dedicated to the great literary figure of Kazakhstan, Abai Kunanbaev, and launched the Year of Abai in Russia and the Year of Pushkin in Kazakhstan.
