After arriving in the Republic’s capital the head of state visited the Tsvetlit factory.
The President got to know the manufacturing procedures and was shown various product samples. Products include different cables used in both the space sector and in ordinary construction.
Factory employees also told the President about the project to introduce digital television in Mordovia.
Vladimir Putin then participated in the ceremony for unveiling the monument to the naval commander and admiral, Fedor Ushakov, and visited the cathedral dedicated to the holy and righteous warrior Fedor Ushakov.
The President gave the church an icon of Georgii Pobedonosts and the Archbishop Varsonofii of Saransk and Mordovia gave Vladimir Putin a picture of Feodor Ushakov.
After his trip to Saransk, the President held a working meeting with the head of the Republic of Mordovia, Nikolai Merkushkin.
The President pointed out that as a whole Mordovia’s economy is developing quite well and he thanked the head of the Republic for the work he has accomplished towards developing the region.
The head of the Republic also told the President about a number of problems that Mordovia faces.
