At the meeting, Vladimir Putin and Alexander Karlin discussed the economic situation in the region. In the first seven months of the year, industrial production grew by 4.2%. The region’s agro-industrial sector is also developing rapidly.
Improvement is evident in tackling social issues. According to Karlin, in the first six months of 2006 the average monthly salary in the region grew by 25%, reaching 6,000 rubles.
Major infrastructure projects, including in the power industry, are being successfully implemented in the region. Gazprom will invest about one billion rubles this year in the installation of gas services in the region.
