Mr Putin presented the ministry’s new head, Anatoly Serdyukov.
The President thanked Mr Serdyukov’s predecessor, Sergei Ivanov, for his work as defence minister and said that he had succeeded in reaching set objectives.
Mr Ivanov thanked the members of the Defence Ministry Collegium for their work together over the past six years and asked them to give their support to the new defence minister.
