“Dear participants of the Meeting of the Heads of the Supreme Courts of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Member States. Greetings to the participants of the Meeting of the Heads of the Supreme Courts of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Member States.
Since its foundation the SCO has established a reputation as an authoritative and influential organisation capable of establishing conditions that support sustainable social and economic development in our countries. I am pleased that within the SCO’s increasingly dynamic and expanding activities there is increased demand for cooperation between members’ supreme courts.
To a large degree, today the reliable protection of the rights and legitimate interests of millions of our citizens and the possibility of strengthening multilateral relations largely depend on the quality of work done by the judicial organs of SCO members and on the strict observance of national legislation and international obligations. Judicial systems play a significant role in countering contemporary threats and challenges, strengthening collective and legal bases in the struggle against terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, and other transnational crimes.
I am convinced that the proposals that you will develop during your meeting will help us resolve these crucial problems. As a whole, this will contribute to safeguarding peace and stability in our region, strengthen mutual trust, friendship and good-neighbourly relations.
