Aleksei Botian has been awarded the title of Hero for the courage and heroism he demonstrated during operations to free the Polish city of Krakow and prevent its destruction by German fascist invaders during the Great Patriotic War.
After school Aleksei Botian was enlisted in the Polish army in which he participated in the fight against the Germans in September 1939 as commander of an anti-aircraft gun.
After the war he served in the headquarters of the foreign intelligence services for 40 years and executed many crucially important tasks.
