At a meeting of the Council for the Implementation of Priority National Projects and Demographic Policy in Belgorod, two years after the promulgation of the presidential initiative for the implementation of national projects, President Vladimir Putin noted their effectiveness. According to the President, the main result of the national projects is that people believe that the state is concerned about them, and that they, in turn, have changed in accordance with the demands of the time. They now have reasons to do their work well.
The Council meeting held in Belgorod University focused on the national education project. Following the meeting, the government will be given orders to develop a comprehensive plan of the current model of education in the country by March 2008.
Concluding the meeting, Vladimir Putin stressed that the national projects should serve as a catalyst for problems and encourage systemic change. The success of these projects will provide the basis for the transfer of appropriate programmes to the planning of day-to-day work.
