Vladimir Putin congratulated Silvio Berlusconi on his victory in the parliamentary elections and called for the revitalisation of bilateral relations between Russia and Italy when the new governments assume office.
During informal talks at Villa Certosa, Vladimir Putin and Silvio Berlusconi agreed that the recently elected governments of the two countries should work on the continuity and development of bilateral relations.
Vladimir Putin and Silvio Berlusconi discussed current international problems and various aspects of Russian-Italian cooperation, in particular the possibility of joint projects in the energy sector with Libya.
They also discussed the possibility of renewing contacts between Aeroflot and its Italian partners to resolve the situation of Alitalia, the Italian national airline.
