The monument represents a tombstone in the colours of Russia’s national tricolour flag, beneath which is engraved an Orthodox cross.
The monument was unveiled on the first anniversary of Mr Yeltsin’s death. The unveiling ceremony was attended by Mr Yeltsin’s widow, Naina Yeltsina, his family members, President of Russia Vladimir Putin, President-Elect Dmitry Medvedev, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Aleksii II, senior government officials, members of the cultural and arts communities and public figures.
First President of Russia Boris Yeltsin died on April 23, 2007 of a heart attack.
