In particular the parties discussed cooperation in trade, economic and cultural spheres. They agreed on further steps to implement two joint energy projects, the Burgas-Alexandroupolis oil pipeline and the South Stream gas pipeline.
There was also an exchange of views on a wide range of topical European and international political issues, including the situation in the Balkans, Kosovo, the Cyprus settlement and Russia’s relations with the European Union.
The main outcome of Russian-Greek talks was the signing of an agreement on cooperation in the construction and implementation of the Greek part of the South Stream gas pipeline.
After the talks the Russian head of state and Prime Minister of Greece made press statements and answered questions from journalists.
Later in the day Russian President-elect Dmitry Medvedev also met with Greek Prime Minister Konstantinos Karamanlis.
