Participants in the working session of the G8 heads of state, with participation by representatives from Brazil, Egypt, India, China, Mexico, and the Republic of South Africa.

A joint statement was issued based on the outcomes of a working meeting between G8 leaders and representatives from Brazil, Egypt, India, China, Mexico, and South Africa, as well as international organisation leaders. Participants in the meeting expressed their readiness to work together to ensure that the global economy resumes growth and to support developing countries in withstanding the impact of the crisis.

The G8 leaders affirmed their commitment to advance reform processes of international organisations, including the United Nations, to reflect contemporary reality and challenges, thus enhancing their legitimacy and efficiency.

The Summit also included a meeting with participation by the leaders of the Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate, following which a declaration was adopted. The Forum participants confirmed their readiness to continue to work together constructively to strengthen the world’s ability to combat climate change.
