The heads of state and government discussed the situation in light of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko’s declaration the day before of a halt to military operations in the southeast.
Mr Putin expressed overall support for Mr Poroshenko’s peace plan, but noted that the declaration must be followed by a genuine ceasefire and stressed the need for an immediate start to talks between the authorities in Kiev and representatives of the protesting regions.
The three leaders reiterated their readiness to continue efforts to help normalise the situation in Ukraine.
