Employment was a subject of particular attention. Mr Abdulatipov said that the unemployment problem is partly linked to the fact that young people make up around 30 percent of Daghestan’s population. Unemployment dropped a little in 2013 and Mr Abdulatipov described the job creation efforts the authorities are carrying out. In the agriculture sector, for example, vine growing is expanding, and greenhouse cultivation is also being actively developed. A large sheet glass production facility opened last October. The infrastructure has been prepared for building a new textile industry facility that will create 4,000 jobs for women and is a joint project with Turkish businesspeople.
