The meeting addressed prospects for building up cooperation between BRICS nations (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) and South American countries, including in trade and investment.
After the session, the talks continued over a working lunch hosted by President of Brazil Dilma Rousseff in honour of the leaders of Russia, India, China, South Africa and South American nations.
Vladimir Putin had several bilateral meetings with South American heads of state on the sidelines of the summit. In particular, the President of Russia had brief conversations with President of Peru Ollanta Humala, President of Chile Michelle Bachelet and President of Colombia Juan Manuel Santos.
