A working meeting was held between G8 heads of state and representatives from Brazil, Egypt, India, China, Mexico, and South Africa, as well as international organisation leaders. The meeting discussed global development and problems in promoting development of the world’s poorest nations. The leaders released a joint statement based on the outcomes of the meeting.
The Summit also included a meeting with participation by the leaders of the Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate, following which a declaration was adopted.
Later in the day, the G8 leaders met with participants in the Junior 8 Summit.
Dmitry Medvedev also met with President of France Nicolas Sarkozy on the sidelines of the Summit. The two presidents agreed to hold talks during Mr Medvedev’s visit to France in 2010.
