Vladimir Putin will visit Kazakhstan

Vladimir Putin will visit Kazakhstan on October 15–16 at the invitation of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.

Announcement, October 15 − 16, 2015

Events are planned for October 15 in Astana within the framework of the state visit. During talks at the highest level, the Presidents plan to discuss prospects for trade, economic and investment cooperation, including implementation of major projects in energy, transport, space research and industrial cooperation. The Presidents are also expected to exchange views on current issues in integration cooperation, first and foremost within the context of the Eurasian Economic Union Background information Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) ’s work. In addition, Vladimir Putin and Nursultan Nazarbayev Nazarbayev Nursultan Nazarbayev Nursultan will touch on key problems on the regional and international agenda. A number of bilateral documents are expected to be signed as a result of the visit.

On October 16, the President of Russia will participate in the upcoming meetings of the CIS Background information Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Council of Heads of State and the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.

At the CIS Summit, heads of state will address international issues of mutual interest, as well as prospects for developing multilateral cooperation in the humanitarian, law enforcement and defence spheres. In addition, the leaders are expected to sign a series of corresponding agreements and decisions. In particular, the leaders plan to adopt statements on the occasion of the United Nations’ 70th anniversary and the fight against international terrorism, and statements on the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident. The agenda also includes organisational issues, including CIS chairmanship in 2016.

The main focus during the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council Summit, with participation by the Presidents of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia, will be the development of integration processes within the framework of the association. The agenda also includes issues of international activity, and strengthening cooperation with other integration structures and nations. Following the meeting, the heads of state plan to sign documents determining the primary areas of the Union’s economic development for the future.
