The meeting’s participants discussed the positive developments in the ongoing fight against terrorist groups and organisations in Syria, which the Syrian Armed Forces are carrying out with support from Russia’s Aerospace Forces. They noted the importance of Palmyra’s liberation from the hands of ISIS fighters.
Mr Putin informed the meeting participants on the results of his recent contacts with US Secretary of State John Kerry and German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
The participants also discussed a number of socioeconomic and domestic matters.
Taking part in the meeting were Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko, State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin, Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, Director of the Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov, Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service Mikhail Fradkov, Deputy Secretary of the Security Council Rashid Nurgaliyev, and Russia’s Plenipotentiary Representative in in the Contact Group for Settlement in Eastern Ukraine Boris Gryzlov.
