The participants discussed the Middle East peace process in light of Mr Putin’s talks this week with President of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu. They expressed serious concern at the sudden worsening of the situation at the Geneva talks on a settlement in Syria.
Also on the agenda were current domestic socioeconomic issues and a number of matters concerning preparations for the parliamentary elections.
Taking part in the meeting were Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko, Speaker of the State Duma Sergei Naryshkin, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Ivanov, Secretary of the Security Council Nikolai Patrushev, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu, Director of the Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov, Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service Mikhail Fradkov, and Deputy Secretary of the Security Council Rashid Nurgaliyev.
