President of Russia Vladimir Putin: Ms Voloshina and Ms Kornelyuk,

I know that more than two months ago now, on March 23 to be exact, you met with Viktor Medvedchuk. Following that meeting, you appealed to me to pardon [Nadezhda] Savchenko, who was sentenced by a Russian court.

I will not return now to that tragedy in which you lost your loved ones. I only want to thank you for this position you have taken and express the hope that decisions such as this, motivated above all by considerations of humanity, will help to reduce the confrontation in the conflict zone and help to avoid any further such terrible and senseless losses in the future.

Thank you very much.
