The President congratulated the students on the upcoming Day of Knowledge and held a videoconference with the heads of the central Nakhimov Academy in St Petersburg and the academy’s branch in Sevastopol.

Along with the general school programme, students at the Nakhimov Academy in Vladivostok have additional specialised training to prepare them for military service and work in civilian sectors.

The academy has facilities for aircraft and ship model building and marine robotics. Students study the history of shipbuilding, learn about sailing and navigation, and study the construction of submarines and surface vessels. They undergo a two-week annual practical session on board ships and undertake sea voyages.

The school currently has 560 students.
