The President paid last respects to the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Turkey, who died tragically in Ankara in a terrorist attack.

Vladimir Putin expressed heartfelt condolences to Andrei Karlov’s family, his mother Maria, widow Marina, son Gennady and sister Yelena.

The ceremony was also attended by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Andrei Karlov was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Russia.
