The President said, in particular, in his message:
“Your meeting has long since established itself as an important and much anticipated event in the public life of St Petersburg and the entire country. It is very pleasing to see that throughout these years, the organisers and participants have continued tradition and devote great attention to the most fundamental and important issues of developing civilisation and the dialogue of cultures, continuing the legacy of the great humanist and educator Dmitry Likhachov.
I am sure that this year’s conference will take place in a creative and constructive spirit and be remembered for its interesting and productive discussions and its informal and genuinely friendly atmosphere.”
The 17th International Likhachov Scientific Conference Global World: Systemic Changes, Challenges and Profiles of the Future is taking place in St Petersburg on May 18–20.
The annual conferences were established by Presidential Executive Order in 2001 with the aim of immortalising the memory of outstanding literary scholar and public figure Dmitry Likhachov (1906–1999).
