Congratulations to Russian women’s team on winning the 2017 World Team Chess Championship

Vladimir Putin congratulated the players of the national women’s team, Alexandra Kostenyuk, Katerina Lagno, Valentina Gunina, Olga Girya and Alexandra Goryachkina, on winning the 2017 World Team Chess Championship in Khanty-Mansiisk.

“Your tight-knit, focused team has won this prestigious title for the first time in history. In a tense and heated battle, you demonstrated the highest skill and will to win, and proved that you are the undisputed leaders in the chess world.
