The message reads, in part:
“The Russian Red Cross is by right one of the country’s oldest public charity organisations with remarkable and time-tested traditions. Notably, its establishment was related to a famous and heroic chapter in Russian history, the defence of Sevastopol during the Crimean War.
It is important that these days, the Russian Red Cross staff and volunteers honourably follow the mission of selfless service to people, and carry on the values of charity and humanity. Their actual deeds help those who find themselves in trouble and difficult circumstances, those affected by military conflicts and natural disasters, and those who face a serious disease. Such noble self-sacrificing work requires generosity, understanding, a kind heart and full commitment.
Certainly, it is important to note your contribution to engaging young people in volunteering and to cultivating a sense of citizenship and social responsibility in the new generation.”
