In a telegram to the son of the well-known neurophysiologist and scientific leader of the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Institute of the Human Brain, Svyatoslav Medvedev, director of the Institute of the Human Brain, the President said, in particular:
“Over her years of scientific practice Natalia Petrovna Bekhtereva established an influential school and laid the foundations for fundamental research in the field of neurophysiology that represented a real breakthrough in medical science. Natalia Petrovna was not only an outstanding professional and world-renowned scientist but also an amazingly good and compassionate person.
Natalia Petrovna’s inspiring memory will live on in the hearts of her colleagues, friends, patients and numerous students, in the hearts of all who knew and so greatly appreciated her”.
One of the world’s most renowned neurophysiologists, Natalia Bekhtereva passed away at the age of 84 in a German clinic on June 22 and was buried in St Petersburg on June 27.
