Congratulations to participants in celebrations marking Russia and Belarus Unity Day

Vladimir Putin sent his congratulations to the participants in celebrations marking the Day of Unity between the Peoples of Russia and Belarus.

The message reads, in part:

“I congratulate you with all my heart on Russia and Belarus Unity Day, a wonderful holiday that symbolises the deep bonds of brotherly friendship that connect the peoples of our countries.

This year we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Treaty Establishing the Union State of Russia and Belarus. We have managed to achieve a great deal in all areas of bilateral interaction since then.

Our bilateral trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation has reached a high level. We maintain efficient coordination of efforts in foreign policy, defence and security. Our parliaments are also engaged in a comprehensive and constructive dialogue.

Multifaceted contacts between our regions, business and public circles are being expanded. Systematic efforts are being made to align national legislation and to ensure equal rights of the peoples of both countries.

I am confident that the further development of allied and partnership relations and improvement of mechanisms of mutually beneficial integration are in the interests of our friendly peoples and facilitate the strengthening of stability and security in Eurasia.”
