The message reads, in part:
”Overcoming the freezing Arctic temperatures and force 12 storms, you have covered over 10,000 kilometres from New Zealand to South America, and for the first time in history have managed to reach Cape Horn in a rowboat. Millions of people around the world admire your courage and endurance at sea. And, of course, this unique expedition and all your achievements are of immense importance for educating young people who are interested in the history of geographical explorations and eager to continue the glorious traditions of Russian sea voyagers and travelers.”
It took Fedor Konyukhov 154 days to cross the southern part of the Pacific Ocean in a rowboat. As of today, Konyukhov has completed five round-the-world voyages, has crossed the Atlantic Ocean 17 times, and has become the first Russian citizen to climb the Seven Summits and visit the North and South poles.
