The message reads in part:
“The history of the Ground Forces – Russia’s oldest branch of the Armed Forces – goes back to many centuries. With a feeling of profound gratitude we cherish the memory of the heroic deeds of prominent commanders, soldiers and officers, who, without regard for their own lives, bravely fought on the battlefields for the freedom and independence of our Motherland.
It is important that the present-day generation preserves and develops the traditions of patriotism, comradeship and unity started by the veterans, displays excellent military skills and commitment to their oath and military duty. They successfully master modern arms and equipment and successfully solve the tasks set for the benefit of the country’s defence capability and national security.”
