Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan Erdogan Recep Tayyip Erdogan Recep TayyipPresident of Türkiye paid special attention to the crisis in Libya, reaffirming the need for the conflicting sides to take real steps to reach a sustainable ceasefire and to launch direct talks in keeping with the resolutions of the Berlin Conference and UN Security Council Resolution 2510.

The two presidents discussed the developments in Syria with a focus on stepping up joint counter-terrorist efforts. They agreed to further coordinate their actions in the execution of the agreements between Russia and Turkey on the Idlib de-escalation zone, primarily the Additional Protocol to the 2018 Sochi Memorandum, adopted on March 5, 2020 in Moscow.

They also brought up other international matters, including the Middle East Peace Process.

In addition to this, Mr Putin and Mr Erdogan raised a number of bilateral topics, including the development of trade and economic ties. With air service to and from Ankara and Istanbul, as well as Turkey’s resorts resuming, Vladimir Putin stressed the importance of ensuring sanitary and epidemiological safety for Russian nationals staying in Turkey. In this context, he noted the need for agencies specialising in fighting the coronavirus to step up their cooperation, especially in connection with the approval of a coronavirus vaccine in Russia.

It was agreed to maintain contacts at various levels.
