The meeting took place at a road service facility near Kazan, where the M-12 Vostok Motorway starts. The President arrived at the wheel of a KamAZ lorry with Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.
Before the meeting, Avtodor Chairman of the Board Vyacheslav Petushenko and General Director of the Association of International Road Carriers Andrei Kurushin told Vladimir Putin about the development of the motorway.
The federal M-12 Vostok Motorway will link Moscow, Kazan, Yekaterinburg and Tyumen. It is to be a foundation for the Rossiya high-speed motorway route from St Petersburg to Vladivostok. Under the plan, the highway will be extended to Yekaterinburg this year and to Tyumen next year. The 810-kilometre section of the highway from Moscow to Kazan was opened on December 21, 2023 in the presence of the President.
